Zero Racial Disparities in Infant Mortality by 2033

The FLOURISH St. Louis Fund has set aside approximately $700,000 to assist organizations that want to implement programs that support the health of Black moms, babies and families. Applications for this funding are due on December 23.

We’re excited to be able to support organizations with projects that help close the gap between Black and White infant mortality in St. Louis,” said Brian Washington, manager of planning and partnerships at Generate Health. “These grants are especially unique in that the community has helped determine what areas funding should support, based on their lived experience and perspective about what can make the biggest impact for families.”

Funded projects must align with one or more of FLOURISH’s priority areas, as determined by our Community Leaders Cabinet:

Coordinated Quality Care: Co-design a model of care with community members and system leaders that provides high quality, holistic care that promotes culturally affirming practices for Black women and connects them to services and resources and community support.

Safe Sleep: Develop and implement a safe sleep campaign with messaging in accordance to the American Academy of Pediatric guidelines for infant safe sleep and in alignment with the Infant Health Action Team.

Social Determinants of Health (Housing): Develop an advocacy campaign to bring awareness to the impact poor quality housing has on the health of a family.

Social Determinants of Health (Transportation): Implement community-focused initiatives to improve transportation infrastructure and options for families.
